WHY SHOULD I JOIN THE VAC?

The Volunteer Action Center provides students with various service opportunities on and off campus. These events range from semester long commitments to one time activities. The VAC also provides students with a chance to serve on the board of one of the six signature programs. As a board member, students are able to grow in their leadership and professional development.

What do students say about the VAC?

Wendy Hoffert

“I first learned about the VAC board by being a RFR distribution driver and this prompted me to join the board second semester freshman year. I love the relationships that I have made while being on the board with volunteers and other board members. I have learned a lot about sustainability and campus food operations through RFR.”

Harper King

“I chose to serve on the VAC board to join my professional and academic goals with my desire to serve the campus community with food and resources they may not have access to. I love FCFP because I get to make a meaningful change to peoples’ daily lives alongside the rest of the dedicated food pantry team. I also love that I get to work with my  hands and mind to manage the garden and educate the VAC on the importance of sustainability!”

Natalie O'Brien

“I serve as the VAC Historian. I chose this role  to further VAC Alumni connections and to develop record keeping systems for the VAC. I love that the VAC is a place where everyone truly belongs. I  believe that the strength of the VAC’s is teamwork and collaboration.”
