About Us

The Passionate About Literacy Program was initially founded as the Literacy Program underneath the Associated Student Government by University of Arkansas student Becca Braun and ASG President Billy Flemming in 2010 but shortly moved to the Volunteer Action Center in 2011. The PAL Program fosters literacy-based mentorship relationships in elementary school-aged children at four different sites in the Northwest Arkansas community. Through PAL, we hope to encourage growth in literacy through facilitated reading activities led by mentors who strive to empower a love of reading for future generations.
